The National Coordinator of the Pan Democratic Coalition (PANDECO), Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, has disclosed that the Coalition is now set to play a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the Coalition, which is made up of   125 political organizations and Civil Society Organisations(CSOs) mission, is to foster a vibrant democratic ecosystem, promote democratic ideals, and ensure power remains accountable to the people.

He added that PANDECO aims to drive societal development and positive change by promoting Democratic Awareness: Educate citizens on democratic principles, values, and processes

“Support Democratic Institutions Strengthen institutions like the electoral commission, parliament, and judiciary.

“Foster Citizen Engagement: Encourage active participation in democratic processes, including elections and advocacy

“Advocate for Policy Reforms*: Push for reforms promoting democracy, accountability, and justice.”

 Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha stressed that the Coalition envisaged a Nigeria built on transparency, accountability, justice, and equality, where leaders are chosen through free, fair, and credible elections. A country with core values of deeper democracy, accountability, justice, and integrity.

Also, at the event, the spokesperson of the  Coalition, Hon. Yeye Ashaby Bukana,  explained that PANDECO plans to achieve its objectives through a multi-faceted approach, which includes.

“ Organizing workshops, seminars, and town hall meetings to educate citizens on democratic principles, values, and processes.

“Engaging with policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders to promote policy reforms that support democracy, accountability, and justice.

“ Encouraging citizens to participate in democratic processes, including elections, advocacy, and activism.

“ Providing support to democratic institutions, such as the electoral commission, parliament, and judiciary, to strengthen their capacity and independence.

“Collaborating with other organizations, civil society groups, and stakeholders to amplify its impact and promote a culture of democracy.

“ Conducting research and analysis to inform its advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.

“Engaging with the public through various media channels to raise awareness and promote democratic values” He said

Hon Yeye disclosed that taking the listed comprehensive approach, PANDECO aims to promote democratic ideals, strengthen democratic institutions, and empower citizens to participate in the democratic process that will bring positive political evolution in Nigeria by 2027.
