2027: PDP organises ‘Train-the- Trainers’ workshop for secretaries, ICT officers on uploading of agents’ names

• Tasks them to be focused

The Nyesom Wike backed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday held a ‘Train-the-Trainer’ workshop for its State Secretaries, State Organizing Secretaries and ICT Officers from the States ahead the next year’s general election in the country.

In attendance at the training were eight (8) State Secretaries, twenty-one (21) Organizing Secretaries and twenty-five (25) ICT officers.

Speaking at the opening the training

held at the Wadata House headquarters of the PDP in Abuja, its National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed tasked the attendees to be focused and get back to their various states to give the same training to their people so that it can be extended to the various local governments.

Mohammed explained that the training, which centred on INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) portal capacity building, was in four phases.

According to him, “It is a training that has to do with about four phases. This is the first phase of the training. The other ones will take place in our various states, our local governments and that of wards and polling units.

“The importance of election today starts from the polling units where we rely on our agents and canvassers across the polling units. “So, I want to appeal to our members that are here this afternoon for this training, please be focused because this training is very important.

“I know some of you that are here are used to the election process but you know election process keeps changing.

“Today, we have upgraded from the manual system to the electronic system and most especially in this coming election, there are a lot of developments that has to do with the election.

“So, I want all of you to be focused and get back to your various states to give the same training to our people so that it can be extended to our various local governments”, he said.

Also speaking at the event, the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar Nature pointed out that uploading of names of agents is very important in the election process.

His words, “Uploading of agents’ names is very important in the election process today. We just finished the battle with INEC over uploading of candidates, and you can see, INEC are doing whatever they want to do, particularly after that Supreme Court judgment.

“So we don’t want to also have same challenges with agents. We have a window till I think the 17th of December, where all agents must be in the portal.

“I crave your indulgence to get the best hands because we have issues when the election is coming. People become agents, and at the end of the day, they are also double agents and we get our candidate stranded at some point.

“So I think it’s important that you vet these candidates before you put them as agents. Anybody who has some tendencies of decamping or joining issues with other parties, please, he doesn’t need to be a brother or an in-law who is committed party member.

“There are so many committed party members, but you don’t patronize them. Sometimes, they become a bit disgruntled. Please and please, patronize those who are dedicated to this party.

‘A lot of people are out there dedicated to this party. Please fish them out and select them as agents.

“The importance of timely submission of this list is very important to all of us”, he declared.
