2027: Peter Obi reportedly displeased as leadership dispute rocks OK Movement

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is reportedly unhappy over the lingering leadership crisis within the OK Movement, a political bloc established to promote the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso alliance ahead of the 2027 general election.
This was disclosed by Rabiu Kwankwaso’s spokesman, Ladipo Johnson, during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, where he admitted that internal disagreements had emerged within the Movement.
Johnson described the dispute as an unfortunate distraction rather than a serious threat to the coalition’s long-term political ambitions. He cautioned members against taking unilateral actions capable of deepening divisions within the support base of the alliance.
According to him, the disagreement centres on differences between some members and the leadership of the Movement, stressing that unity remains essential if the coalition is to build a credible alternative for the 2027 presidential election.
He also revealed that Obi had been informed about the situation and was dissatisfied with the developments.
“I saw the presidential candidate last night along with the DG. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” Johnson said.
He added that while the crisis is regrettable, it should not be allowed to derail the broader objective of strengthening the coalition and expanding its grassroots support nationwide.
