The 2027 governorship race in Nasarawa State is gathering momentum as the camp of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada begins an aggressive grassroots mobilization drive ahead of the election.
The WADADA PROJECT, an independent campaign organisation supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful, has inaugurated more than 300 coordinators to oversee its political structure across the state.
The coordinators, inaugurated include 18 Development Area Coordinators, 147 Electoral Ward Coordinators and 147 Ward Women Leaders.
The structure is expected to serve as the foundation of the campaign’s grassroots mobilization strategy as the senator seeks to strengthen his support base ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chairman of the WADADA PROJECT Advisory Council, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, charged the newly appointed coordinators to focus on delivering measurable results for the project.
Yakubu, who is also Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Coordinating Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, described the appointments as a major call to duty.
“You are being commissioned into an assignment that has no other objective than result,” he said, describing the initiative as a platform committed to mobilizing citizens for the Wadada governorship project.
He also urged the coordinators to work towards what he described as a united Nasarawa State, while praising the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule for what he called its economic achievements.
The event equally attracted financial support from some APC stakeholders, with former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Amb. Henry Omaku, donating N5 million to the campaign.
The APC flag bearer for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, also donated N1 million to the project.
Other party leaders who attended the event and expressed support for Wadada included the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaac Danladi; Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Mohammed Ottos; former lawmaker, Hon. Abdullamid Kwarra; and Chairman of the City Boy Movement in Nasarawa State, Dr Yahaya Abdullahi Jaji.
The inauguration was also attended by the APC flag bearer for Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, Hon. Tony Bala Shammah, council chairmen, local government coordinators and other party faithful.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated officials, the coordinators expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in them and pledged to mobilize voters for Wadada and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Peoples Daily reports that the development signals an early intensification of political activities in Nasarawa, with the Wadada camp seeking to establish a formidable ward-level network well ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.
