Over 23,000 persons are expected to benefit from Federal government Special Public Work program.
The program is domiciled under the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, which is its implementer.
Inaugurating the Benue State Selection Committee of Extended Special Public Work Department, chairman of the committee Barr. Moses Atagher noted that the aim of the committee is to ensure that the ravaging effect of the Covid-19 is minimized in communities in the State.
According to him, the committee has the mandate to identify 1,000 helpless persons who will be recruited to engage in different projects which include, minor road maintenance, clearing of drainage, painting of Public buildings and maintenance of traffic related projects, adding the projects will vary from one community to another.
Barr. Atagher who said the Federal government has budgeted over 1 billion naira for the program, intimated that it will run from October to December with each beneficiary paid the sum of twenty thousand naira for three (3)months.
