With a total of 2, 852 corps members serving in Delta State under the 2019 Batch C’ Stream 1 Category, 24 out of the numbers were sanctioned to repeat their service over alleged negligence, while others who successfully completed their service, were issued with certificates of completion.
Although the passing out ceremony was strictly in compliance with Covid-19 pandemic protocols, but the Delta State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) Mrs Olutayo Samuel who spoke to Journalists confirmed that the 24 corps members incurred the punishment following their deviant attitude during their service year, adding that the passing out function was unusual because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said “We ensued the observance of Covid-19 pandemic protocols as the new normal passing out usually was glamorous with pomp and pageantry but times have changed as our health is more important than any fun”.
