No fewer than 25,000 driving licences have been abandoned at different liencing offices across Delta State, Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) Sector Commander in the state,Mr Ocheja Isaac Ameh has disclosed.
Ameh who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Sunday, explained that the situation was worrisome and needed to be checked to ensure safety on the roads, adding that most times some persons who obtained the temporary driver’s licence papers usually forgot the original and then continue using that in place of the original card.
According to him, “People should stop parading receipt as driver’s licence as that would further make their cases worse as the Command will soon clamp down on defaulters, especially as they are against the law and it will not be allowed anymore because we must know the Identity of the drivers and ensure safety and security on the roads” and called on the members of the public who had registered for driver’s licences to pick their original cards as the command would not accept receipts anymore.
