2nd measles immunization: Jigawa targets over one million Children

The Jigawa state government has targetted over one million children to be immunize under second dorse of Measles vaccines immunization in the state.
This was announced by the executive secretary Jigawa state primary healthcare development agency Dr Kabiru Ibrahim at the flag-off ceremony of MVC2 introduction into routine immunization and RI intensification activity held yesterday at chai-Chai town area of Ringim local government in the state.
He explained that, the aims of the immunization exercise, is to reduce rampant cases of measles among the children in the state.
According to him, over 12,000 Jigawa communities are to benefit with this exercise and all under fifteen months old are eligible to be immunize.
Dr Kabiru maintained that, a research was conducted at national level and discovered that every children under fifteen months old, need to be immunize at nine months and before reaching fifteen months.
He then called on caregivers mothers, traditional leaders and media to cooperate with government for the successful conduct of the exercise.
While delivering his remarks, the Director ‘All babies are equal’ Nursing Muhammad said their Initiative enrolled over 250,000 caregivers in their program where over 750, million was disbursed to them.
Also the representative of UNICEF, CDGP and save the children commended Jigawa state government for giving more priority to health sector.
