Three Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, taking refuge at the IDPs camp in Agagbe, Gwer West local government area of Benue State have been reportedly killed by armed suspected herders.
The camp chairman of Agagbe camps, Terna Jacob who confirmed the incident said it happened on Monday afternoon when the victims left the camp to fish at a stream in neighboring Gbange/Tomgov council ward when they were ambushed and killed.
Jacob said, “Yesterday (Monday) morning, one Iorhemba Cletus, 37 years old of block 2 room 2 of IDP camp Agagbe left to Gbange/Tomgov council ward together with two (3) others to fish so as to sell and get food and other necessities for their families.
“But the armed Fulani herders ambushed and killed them, their bodies were later found and buried.
The camp chairman gave names of the other two victims to include; Akaa Clifford 50 yrs and Igbahemba Abua a 55 year old.
He further said, “Akaa Clifford to uses the proceeds to provide food and also settle medical bills of his sick wife
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene said she is yet to receive the report.
