Niger State Police Command said a fatal accident along Gwada-Minna Road, killed three policemen and four other passengers.
A statement issued by the command PPRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the accident involved a FAW-VITA vehicle driven by Inspector Ezekiel Thomas attached to the command and an unregistered Sharon Vehicle Driven by one Awaisu Suleiman of Kuta.
It said the FAW Vehicle was traveling from Dandaudu Village to Minna along with two other Police Personnel after visiting their families in the village, while the Sharon vehicle was also travelling from Minna to Kuta.
“The two vehicles had a head on collision around Gadan Yan-Biu due to suspected excessive speed, and as a result, the three policemen and four others from the Sharon lost their lives, including drivers of both vehicles”.
Niger State Command CP Ogundele Ayodeji, condoled with the families of the deceased persons and urged members of the public to disregard any misinformation relating to the cause of the accident especially in some social media.
