A ghastly motor accident yesterday killed 35 Maulud travelers and 37 others.
The devastating road accident occurred near Saminaka in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were said to be on board a J5 bus that had a head-on collision with an articulated vehicle.
Malam Abdullahi, one of the organizers of the Maulud celebration, said the accident disrupted their plans.
He told our reporter that it was a sad day for people in the community.
“We had around 70 people, including women and children in our entourage. But this ugly incident has claimed about 35 lives.”
Abdullahi stated that the injured, numbering over 37 have been transported to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in nearby Plateau State for medical treatment.
Additionally, another vehicle in their convoy was involved in a separate accident with a motorcycle, resulting in fatalities and various injuries.
The authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
