From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa State Acting Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has described President Goodluck Jonathan’s assurances of bringing an end to insurgency in the North-East part of the country next month as one of the greatest thing that has ever happened to the zone

Governor Fintiri stated this while speaking during taking delivery of relief materials meant for thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the insurgency in Madagali, Gulak, Michika and Bazza.

Fintiri said the President’s statement coupled with the concerted effort being made to cushion the effect on the displaced persons, is a confirmation of the Federal Government’s firm commitment to put to an end the insurgency once and for all.

He called on the people of the state to give the President the required support and cooperation, commending security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in the state.

It could be recalled that President Jonathan was widely reported to have promised that by next month the insurgents who have embarked on an unrestrained killing spree in Mubi Senatorial Zone, leading to the displacement of Thousands of People, would have been routed out.

Fintiri said President Jonathan’s sincerity and patriotic zeal motivated him and other governors to endorsed him.
