6 students represent Nigeria in continental spelling competition

Six Secondary School Students are to represent Nigeria at this year’s Africa Spelling Bee competition coming up in Kampala Uganda this October.
The National Coordinator Bee Spelling Competition Initiative, the organizer of the competition Abdulsalam Ibrahim stated this in a statement made available to the media in kaduna yesterday.
The statement added that the Nigerian delegation will be led by Mrs. A.E Adigun an Assistant Director in the Federal Ministry of Education.
The six students acccording to the statement are those that emerged champions at the national stage of the Nigerian edition of the continental Spelling Bee Competition.
“ It is orgainsed annually and nationwide by Bee Spelling Competition Initiative, a Kaduna based non-governmental organisation endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Education to organize such competitions among Secondary Schools across the country.
“Team Nigeria won all the best speller titles of the continental event which took place in Kenya last year.
“The Africa Spelling Bee, of which Nigeria is a member, has 22 countries as members and organises an annual competition for students from member countries which is rotated among the nations.
“Nigeria is expected to host the competition in 2020.
“Those who will do Nigeria proud this year include current national best speller, Odutola Dolapo of Montclair College, Ogun State who emerged Natinoal Champion at the recently concluded championship hosted by Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
“Suleiman Dunoma of Federal Government College, Maiduguri emerged first runner up and Alexander Amaike also of FGC, Maiduguri followed closely in the senior category, while Grace Idowu of Montclair came first in the Junior category.
“Nigerian students have continued to showcase their spelling prowess at the continental event since its inception in South Africa, in 2016” The statement reads
