The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, said the 700 newly commissioned officers of the service are fully prepared for immediate deployment in support of fire prevention, emergency response, and disaster risk reduction efforts nationwide.
Adeyemi, stated this on Thursday in during the successful completion of Regular Course 06,
at the NDLEA Training School, Jos, Plateau State,
He said this is a major milestone in history of the service, with the largest officer training programme conducted by the Service in recent years.
He said this is the first comprehensive training for newly recruited officers since 2019.
“Over 700 cadets, comprising officers recruited in the 2022 and 2024 intakes, drawn from across the country, underwent rigorous training in fire suppression, emergency response operations, leadership development, discipline, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. The programme reflects the Federal Fire Service’s renewed commitment to proactive disaster management, professionalism, and improved response capability nationwide.”
He said the Service has in recent years prioritised capacity building, operational readiness, and nationwide coverage to meet emerging fire and emergency challenges.
He noted that the successful training and passing out of over 700 cadets underscores ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening response capability, expanding professional manpower, deepening inter-agency collaboration, and improving service delivery to communities across the country.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Josephine Pyo, who represented the Executive Governor, congratulated the cadets on their successful completion of the course.
She charged them to uphold the morals and core values of the Service, while commending the Federal Fire Service for its critical role in preserving lives and property across Nigeria.
She further appreciated the instructors for their dedication in instilling discipline and professionalism in the cadets and reaffirmed the Plateau State Government’s support for federal security institutions.
The Commandant of the Nigeria Fire Academy (NFA), ACF Peter Umetali, in his vote of thanks, expressed appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the policy direction that enabled the training, and to the Honourable Minister of Interior for his innovative reforms.
