The 8th Edition of Engineer Ibrahim Dada Pre – Season Soccer Tournament for Nigeria Nation Wide League Clubs in Niger State has ended in Bosso local government.
The annual competition sponsored by Engineer Ibrahim Dada has Standard Football Academy Minna and the winner against the Makunkele Selected Club with three goals against one through penalty kick after full time draw.
Engineer Dada in an interview said twenty clubs participated in the competition that was an avenue to discover young talents and discouraged youths restiveness as well as social vices such as political thuggery among others.
He urged governments at all levels to organize such kind of competition that involves youths especially sports which is the major apparatus that unite the people devoid of any sentiment.
The Independent Chairman of Nigeria Nation Wide League (NNWL) and Chairman Nasarawa Football Association, Alhaji Mohammed Alikali stated that the league is the bedrock of all football in Nigeria, noting that 364 clubs are registered in the country.
He stressed that with the standard of what he has seen, Niger state is on its way to pick the championship in the country considering the preparation and standard shown, assured to raise the standard of the league nation wide.
Niger state chairman of Football Association, Comrade Ahmed Fresh commended the organizers of the competition and commitment on the part of the players and clubs for their participation.
The event was witnessed by the Football Association chairmen from Kwara, Kogi, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Plateau states, traditional leaders in the community who were presented with awards as well as awards to the best club, player among others.
