The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued licences to 10 Private Guard Companies.

Speaking while issuing the licence at the headquarters of the Corps in Sauka, Abuja, yesterday, the Commandant General of the Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, charged them to contribute in ensuring peace in the country.

“It is not easy to obtain a private guard licence in Nigeria because it is no longer an all comers affairs. Only the serious companies who are ready to partner with the federal government in stemming the tides of insecurity in Nigeria are the only ones qualified to operate.

“You will agree with me that terrorism, kidnapping, cattle rustling and general insecurity will only destroy our socio-political and economic structure, hence the need for all hands to be on deck to stem this tide”.

While noting that no country in the world has the resources to provide 100% security/protection of its citizens, the NSCDC boss said the private guard companies will also help in reducing insecurity in the country.

“The nemerical strength and spread of the private guard personnel
is of tremendous advantage to this renewed fight against insecurity in Nigeria.”

While urging the beneficiaries to register with the states offices of the union, the Commandant said the companies which are under the supervision of the federal government and the NSCDC must ensure partnership in all areas.
