Some indigenousdigenous people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have commended the Minister of the Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, over the appointment of some indigenes of Abuja into key political positions of the Administration.
In particular, the indigenous youths have noted that the recent appointments made by the FCT Minister has demonstrated the desire of the Administration to carry the indigenes along in the policy formulation that will have direct impact on the people of Abuja.
The youth under the aegis of Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment, however, called on the FCT Minister to widen his scope of political appointments to youths and those who are physically challenged.
Briefing journalists on the appointments almost two years of the current administration’s tenure, President of Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment, Commander Isaac David, noted that since 1976, no FCT Minister has given two political slots to Abuja natives.
He stressed that with the appointment of Abuja indigene to oversee the activities of Satellite Towns Development, the area councils will soon witness faster development.
David, also used the occasion to appeal to the minister to consider the appointment of Special Adviser on Youths and Physically Challenged Persons to interface with the larger population.
According to him, “we, the Abuja indigenes want to use this occasion to commend the recent political appointments made by the FCT Minister.
“It is on record that since 1976, no minister of the Territory has given us two sensitive political slots.
“We are very grateful with the appointment of Satellite Towns Development in particular.
“It is our conviction that with an indigene heading the Satellite Towns Development Department, the six area councils will witness faster development.
“We also note with concern, the appointment of Isah Dara Bwari, as Special Adviser on Community Relations Matters.
“The group used the occasion to call on the Igbos resident in the FCT to see the appointments made by the minister as a call to unity and peaceful coexistence, observing that two key political positions was given to South East.”
