Protests rock Delta hospital management staff co-operative

Palpable leadership crisis has unsettled the Delta State Hospital
Management Staff Co-operative with concerned stakeholders seeking the intervention of the state government for a decisive action.
Staffers of the hospital Management Board have protested with placards of “Gov.
Okowa please intervene, our leaders are not helping issue, we want transparency”.
Expectedly, the aggrieved staffers expressed their grievances through a largely peaceful demonstration at office of the Head of Service (HoS), office of the Accountant General, and the office of the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Asaba.
The president of the co-operative society, Mr. Whisky Azino who spoke to our reporter, said the lingering crisis was informed by the refusal of members of the former executive to release sensitive property to the present executive thereby leading to the inaccessibility of the welfare packages entitled to members.
Mr. Azino however appealed to the state government to ignore unauthorized solicitors who allegedly were bent on frustrating the co-operative society, and release their entitlements, adding that luxury of peaceful demonstrations may not be afforded if their requests were not duly considered.
The Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Reginal Bayoko had in a swift response, assured members of the co-operative that their issues would be addressed in their favour as soon as practicable terms were reached, adding that effect by relevant stakeholders was underway.
Mrs. Mary Iyasere the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry also spoke in the same direction, assured the protesters of the state government’s intervention to save the society of being collapse, adding that those behind the crisis would be brought to book.
