The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) has said that about 15 people were jailed over metre bypass, vandalisation and other illegal activities.
According to JED, the 15 people that were convicted committed various offences cutting across Bauchi, Benue, Plateau and Gombe.
The Managing Director of the company, Mohammed Gidado Modibbo while responding to questions from journalists in Jos also said that tempering with metres according to Section 1, sub 9 of the miscellaneous offences and further to that, it was an economic sabotage.
He however warned that JED would not take it lightly with anyone caught tempering or stealing light.
He added that the company has now partnered with security agencies in all the states to stop illegal connection and meter bypass.
