Etsu Nupe Commends Kebbi Governor’s Respect For Traditional Institution

The Etsu of Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, has commended Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his consistent respect for traditional institution and his commitment to maintaining a strong relationship with traditional rulers.

The Etsu Nupe, who is also the Chairman of the Niger state Traditional Rulers Council made the commendation on Wednesday when a delegation of Kebbi State Government media aides, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja.

The revered traditional ruler said Governor Idris’s commitment to the improvement of the the standard of living and overall wellbeing of the people of Kebbi State has made him worthy of people’s trust and support.

He said the Governor had demonstrated a strong desire to maintaining a mutual and cordial relationship between the traditional institutions of both Kebbi and Niger states.

He cited the long standing amity and mutuality that had existed between the Gwandu Emirate and the Nupe Kingdom, a relationship he said contributed to the conferment of the traditional title of Kauran Nupe on the Governor.

He described Governor Idris as one of the Northern governors who has consistently recognised the importance of traditional institutions and supported their role in promoting peace, unity and development.

“You see, Governor Idris is among the Northern governors who have always supported and recognised the importance of traditional institutions. He is a man of integrity, honesty, transparency and dedication, with deep respect for all manner of people regardless of class or status.”

This, Etsu noted, has contributed to the recognition and conferment of traditional titles on him in different parts of the country.

The Etsu Nupe further described Governor Idris as a compassionate and generous leader whose leadership qualities have contributed to his growing national recognition.

He recalled his visit to Kebbi State, saying he personally witnessed several development projects undertaken by the administration, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, agriculture and healthcare.

“I was in Kebbi State and I saw the developmental projects initiated by the Governor. I saw the solar-powered streetlights, the roads and the developments in education, agriculture and healthcare services. These are clear indications of his commitment to improving the lives of the people,” he said.

The traditional ruler also commended Governor Idris for promoting peace, unity, tolerance and harmonious coexistence among the people of Kebbi State.

“Because of his generosity and inclusive leadership, he has extended opportunities to people from different backgrounds, including members of my family.”

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, thanked the Etsu Nupe for his continued support, fatherly counsel and goodwill towards the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.

He explained that the purpose of the visit was to pay homage to the revered traditional ruler, express appreciation for his support, and acknowledge his role in honouring Governor Idris with the traditional title of Kauran Nupe.

The Commissioner further used the occasion to brief the Etsu Nupe on the achievements of the Kebbi State Government and the administration’s commitment to promoting democracy, good governance, peace and development across the state.

He said the delegation considered it important to maintain a close relationship with the palace and traditional institutions, given their significant role in promoting unity, peace and social development.
