Indigenous contractor’s participation bill passes second reading in Jigawa Assembly

The Jigawa state house of Assembly has yesterday deliberated on a bill seeking the amendment of some sections of the state due process and monitoring bureau to allow indigenous contractors participate in state contracts.
The bill which passed second reading,followed a motion moved by a member representing Kazaure constituency, honourable Bala Hamza Gada and seconded by member representing Kiyawa constituency Alhaji Ado Idris Andaza.
The lawmakers explained that,the Due Process Law was so stringent that indigenous contractors cannot participate in undertaking contracts in the state.
They stressed the need for the amendment of section 3 sub-sections 3 to provide an enabling environment for participation of indigenous contractor in the award of contract.
The Speaker of the House Alhaji Isah Idris Gwaram after delibration passed the bill as second reading and referred the matter to House Committee on Due Process for more details.
The speaker then, directed the committee to report back in two weeks for next action that would benefit the indigenous of Jigawa state.
