The Niger State All Progressives Congress APC youth leader and Niger North Chairman, Sherif Uthman bin Adam, has described as untrue, unfounded a publication in a national daily (not Peoples Daily) that the APC chairmen have rejected car gift from the state governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
He refuted the publication in an interview yesterday while speaking to journalists in Minna, adding that it is unfortunate that some people would go to the press without confirmation and balancing of the information at their disposal.
Sherif urged professionals in the journalism profession to adhere strictly with the code of ethics by ensuring objective, balanced reportage; hence the consequences of their publication to the society could be detrimental to public interest.
The youth leader emphasized that the story was untrue; and that the state governor Abubakar Sani Bello met with the local government party chairmen for the first time in November this year was a complete imagination of the reporter and not the reality of things.
He stated that the governor had met with them many times, including the working committee several times, just as he personally coordinated some of the meetings; and the alleged distance of the chairmen from the party was not true but a calculated attempt to cause disaffection between the Governor and the party men.
