Women charged to be drivers of economy through entrepreneurship

Wife of Benue State Governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom has challenged women to be drivers of the economy through entrepreneurship.
Mrs. Ortom who gave this charge at the second edition of Benue Women Economic Summit held in Makurdi yesterday, stressed that women have to evolve new ways of surviving the economic times.
She explained that the summit with the theme, ‘Women As Drivers of Economic Growth:The Africa Experience’ is aimed at exploring prowess of Benue Women for economic value.
She said over 600 women have been trained in agriculture and other trades, intimating that a loan of over 160 million has been obtained for women willing to expand their businesses.
Mrs. Ortom also, urged the women to be determined to carry out economic ventures that would add value to the economy and their families.
While declaring the even open, Governor Samuel Ortom restated the determination and commitment of his government to uplift the lives of women through entrepreneurship.
He averred that government procured 2 billion naira Bank of Industry Loan to boost economic growth of the State. The Governor expressed delight at the participation, noting that the showcasing of different produce, indicates the rich Agricultural potentials of the State
