The Tor Tiv, HRM Orcivirigh Prof. James Ayatse has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to act fast and avert further brutal killings of innocent citizens in Tiv land perpetrated by armed Fulani herdsmen.
The paramount ruler who was apparently piqued while speaking during a sympathy visit on him by the Minister of Interior Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau in his Makurdi residence following the new year attack on several communities in Tiv land, noted that he remained devastated by the magnitude of destruction of lives and property, insisting that the Federal Government must take proactive steps in forestalling further attack on the defenceless law abiding Benue Citizens.
Orcivirigh Ayatse observed that since the Anti-open grazing
prohibition law was enacted by Benue State Government, there were ominous signals and threats of impending invasion, stressing that the manner the attacks were carried out portend that it was well planned and executed with high and sophisticated weapons.
He disclosed that in spite of the threats and subsequent attacks, he cautioned his subjects not to carry out reprisals, stressing that the government must intervene and give the people adequate protection.
The Begha u Tiv maintained that the federal Government policy on agriculture cannot be realized if the farmers are perennially chased away from their farm lands and slaughtered like animal.
