The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu Continuity Come 2027, a support group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has raised concerns over what it described as the possibility of anti-party activities involving former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group’s National Coordinator, Comrade Sani Ahmad Zangina, made the disclosure during an interview with Arise TV on Sunday, where he discussed political developments ahead of the 2027 elections and the internal dynamics of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Zangina alleged that his concerns were informed by what he described as Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s previous political conduct, particularly during the 2023 general elections.
According to him, similar concerns were raised during the 2023 electoral cycle involving Sheriff and the then National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
He urged the APC leadership to pay close attention to the activities of its prominent members ahead of 2027 and ensure strict compliance with the party’s constitution, directives and applicable electoral laws.
Zangina further called for appropriate mechanisms to address any credible allegation of anti-party activity, stressing that no individual should be allowed to undermine the collective interests of the party.
He said the group’s position was aimed at protecting the unity and electoral prospects of the APC and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, rather than targeting any individual.
However, the allegation remains a claim by the support group and does not, by itself, establish that Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has a confirmed plan to engage in anti-party activities in 2027. Any such allegation would require credible evidence or determination by the appropriate party or legal authorities.
