Group urges implementation of national policy on IDPs

Worried by lack of legal framework in coordinating the activities of Internally Displaced Persons,IDPs in the country,Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre,CISLAC has charged the media to accord the proposed or draft national policy the much needed attention.
Executive Director of the CISLAC, Alhaji Auwalu Ibrahim Rafsanjani gave the charge at a advocacy dialogue with journalists in Yola Tuesday stressing that the passage of such legal backing will go a long way in giving the activities acceptability and fairness.
Represented at the capacity building dialogue on humanitarian issues by Program Manager,Democratic Governance of the centre .Mr Okeke Anya identified ,lack of roadmap proper data on IDPs as major obstacles bedeviling smooth conduct of humanterian services to IDPs camps
He urged governments all levels to work towards coordinated approach for durable solution and prioritize disaster risk to prevention mechanism.
He urged media practitioners to set agenda on the need for adoption and implementing of Kampala convention for the protection and assistance of IDPs in Nigeria.
