A Benin-based human rights activist and the leadership of Junior Chamber International (JCI), Benin Metropolitan have agreed to partner on community interest driven projects in Edo state.
The resolution was reached when the President of JCI, Benin Metropolitan Amb. Bevy Efe paid a courtesy visit on the Executive Director, Foundation for Good Governance and Social Justice, Comrade Austin Osakue yesterday in Benin City.
Osakue challenged members of JCI to use their contacts and name to reach individuals and Corporate organisations in operating in Nigeria to putting money into Community interest projects which could impact rural people either as part of their own Corporate social Responsibility (CSR) or as a way of building a reputable business society.
“Why should I move out here to thousands of kilometres to look for funds elsewhere to sink a borehole in a Community that has produced millionaires.
“You should mobilise local people and multinationals to fund basic projects in rural Communities”, he said.
Earlier in a remark, President of JCI, Benin Metropolitan Amb. Bevy Efe, gave a good account of the group, and listed in areas of interventions of the group under his watch.
He revealed that active Citizens has adopted some public schools in the state for renovation and provision of instructional materials.
