Minna College of Education begins crackdown on certificate forgery

The Provost of College of Education Minna, Professor Mohammed Yakubu Auna has said that the Institution has put in place measures to curtail certificate forgery hence the statement of results would only last for two years.
Prof Auna made the disclosure while speaking to journalists in his office yesterday in Minna saying that an engineer has put in place software so as to easily identify forged results and certificates from the Institution.
He, however, applauded the Niger State Government and TETFund effort in the provision of several structural developments and some interventions in the college.
He further said that the standard of the college will be improved upon despite the challenges facing the school just as plans are on going to improve the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) instead of relying solely on the tuition fees paid by the students alone.
The Provost appealed to the State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello on its overhead costs to be released and consistently to enabled the college took adequate care of its offices, water bills and electricity bill as at when due while the plight of the students and staff will be ameliorated.
He hinted that the college has staff strength of about 620 comprising 200 teaching staff and 400 non teaching staff with also about 9,000 students of the Institution including the nine centres in the State.
Auna was optimistic in the standard of the education of the college as one of the best in country while urging the parents to be watchful of their wards because of the school environment and pea groups, new friends they make as well as their mixing with others to avoid adopting negative attitudes.
He noted that his administration have zero tolerance to corruption and cultism as well as other negative vices like drug abuse hence in partnership with Non Governmental Organizations NGOs to ensure sensitization of students and workers on drug abuse and effect of cultism to avoid their involvement in such acts.
