President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. Momodu Jimah as rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State while Mr. Femi Omokungbe was also appointed as Rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech.) Lagos State.
Minister for education, Mallam Adamu Adamu gave out the appointment letters to Jimah and Omokungbe at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja on Monday.
Chairman, Governing Council of Yaba College of Technology, Prince Lateef Fagbemi Said: “ Record is made today, Omokungbe has been approved by the Minister for Educaiton and the Presidency”.
Fagbemi said: “The Governing Council has adopted the best and God has given us the best. Indeed, it is all that is well, that ends well. We did not have any regrets forwarding three great names from which Omokungbe was selected”.
He appreciated the Federal Government for not throwing overboard the recommendations of the Council.
Omokungbe’s appointment takes effect from February 23rd, 2018, and it is for a single tenure of four years.
Omokungbe , 55, is the first Alumnus of 70- yr-old institution to be appointed rector.
Jimah, until his appointment was the acting rector of Auchi Polytechnic.
