Niger: Private school holds cultural day for students

The leadership of Peace and Unity International School in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State has organized cultural day for the students in the area.
In an interview, the principal of the school, Mr Ejiogu Obinna, said the purpose of organizing the cultural day was to portray unity and diversity among the students.
Obinna revealed that the first cultural day was initiated last year and featured mainly the three tribes which included Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.
He also pointed out that the 2nd cultural day which was organized was participated by so many tribes in order to foster unity among the students.
He said the management of the school would continue to hold cultaural day in the interest of the students.
Principal, however, advised the students to tolerate one another in the spirit of love and togetherness.
On his part, the proprietor of the school, Mr Nwabueze F. Onyemachi, said the students participated in the Wole Soyinka Cultural Exchange and came out with huge success.
He further pointed out that the children of the school were doing well in terms of academic excellence, adding that the students performed well in WAEC last year.
Onyemachi therefore, appealed to Niger State Ministry of Education to reduce taxes to enable the proprietors to meet up with the challenges facing their schools.
