The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo Branch, has commended Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for ongoing reforms in the judicial and legal sectors, urging the government to sustain efforts to strengthen justice delivery in the state.

Chairman of the branch, Dr Daniel P. Saredau, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of Taraba State.

The statement, signed by the branch Publicity Secretary, Longs Lungnan, stressed that an effective judiciary remained critical to good governance, development and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Saredau commended the Chief Judge of Taraba State and the Attorney-General for improvements in judicial infrastructure and legal services.

“While we acknowledge and commend the improvements achieved, ongoing efforts to improve judicial and legal services must be holistic and sustainable, and must ensure the welfare of judicial officers, members of the lower bench and law officers,” he said.

The NBA chairman also reaffirmed the branch’s commitment to promoting the rule of law, justice, democracy and the protection of citizens’ rights.

He pledged the association’s continued partnership with the Taraba State Government and residents in efforts to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous state.

According to him, Taraba’s 35th anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the state’s resilience, cultural diversity, agricultural potential and peaceful coexistence while reflecting on areas requiring further development.
