Three members of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Kebbi State were yesterday given the prestigious State Government award for distinguishing themselves in the area of community development, just as five others received commendation letters.
This was disclosed by the State Coordinator of the Scheme, AlhajiLawalTurawa while passing out 1,288 who have successfully completed their one year mandatory service to their father land.
Turawa who noted with pride that none of this number of corps members would have their service year extended, but only one member would have to repeat his service year for absconding from National Service.
He expressed appreciation to agencies like BOI, SDG’S, NDE, CBN, UNICEF and NEMA for collaborating with the Scheme in the State to impact in the lives of Nigerians, adding that this efforts has clearly indicated in the activities of Corps members who are in the fore front of global campaigns on issues of reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS scourge, charity and legal Aid Services, among others.
In his speech, the State Governor, AbubakarAtikuBagudu said his administration places high premium on youth development and as such the NYSC will and as acted as catalyst to achieve youth oriented programmes.
The governor enjoined them to continue as good representative of Kebbi State by showcasing to their people at home the good virtue of peace and mutual co-existence amongst Nigerians living in the State irrespective of their tribe and religion.
“My dear Corps Members, as you are released into the larger society, i enjoin you to be discipline and desist from all acts that are capable of putting your image in jeopardy,” He warned.
