2019 elections: Dankwambo urges politicians to accept defeat

Date:

From David Hassan, Gombe

As part of the effort to encourage the public peace, Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Hassan, has called on well meaning politicians to shun their differences and accept defeat.
He said with the 2019 election drawing closer, politicians vying for positions should respect the rule of law and embraced peace.
The Governor made the pronouncement at the Government House in Gombe, while marking Eid prayer to end the Ramadan fast.
While calling on Nigerians to ensure that they get their PVC, he said PVC is their weapon to get rid of bad leaders.
Speaking over his presidential ambition, he said indigenes of the state are eligible to vie for any position in the country from bottom to top.
According to him, “we are free to vie for any political post in the land from bottom to top; there is no position in Nigeria that a Gombe person cannot vie for. No position in Nigeria that a Gombe person cannot vie for.
He called on the people of the State to put to practice all that they have learnt during the Ramadan fast.
Earlier in his Sallah Message to the State, Dankwambo felicitated with the Muslim Umma over the opportunity to get closer to Allah.
“As we are all aware, Islam preaches peace, tolerance, and mutual respect amongst members of every community irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
“I therefore call on us to live in peace with one another as no meaningful development can be achieved without peace. We should therefore embrace the tenets of peaceful coexistence as the catalyst for the socioeconomic development of our dear State”, he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Sallah celebration was marked peacefully in the State with the Governor paying the usual Sallah homage to the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar.
