Southern Kaduna: Ex-Army General declares ambition for House of Reps

Former Military General Katunku Simon Gora (rtd), has declared intention to vie for House of Representatives seat to represent Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in Southern Kaduna, in 2019.
The General, who is a PDP member declared his intention at his ward office of the party in Bafai Gora before his campaign team moved to the party’s local government office in Zonkwa and Kwoi.
He was accompanied by former ministers, commissioners, chairmen of the two local government areas, stakeholders in the area , women and youths.
According to General Katunku for dividends of democracy to be felt, the ordinary man must be carried along on issues that affects his wellbeing.
“My passion to bring about positive development and serve the people motivate me into politics after serving the country in the military for 32 years “I have a dream to make people employers of labour. I did it in the barracks and it succeeds. I have the technical know how to organise youths who are roaming the streets with their degrees without anything for them to do to earn a living.
“Our people are intelligent, hardworking, religious, reliable and honest; all we need is a leadership that will give us a direction for us to succeed and achieve what we want,” he said
He further assured the people that if given the mandate, decisions, recommendations and actions of policies will originate from them, saying he intends to carry everybody along in all that affects the constituency. former House of Representatives, Godfrey Gaiya, said attended the declaration because he believed in the general condidature.
“I hereby endorsed General Katunku Gora as the PDP candidate in the 2019 general elections. I have not attended any declaration by any aspirant in the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency contesting for the House of Representatives and l will not, it is a far reaching decision of party stakeholders in the local government to endorse the candidacy of the General.” he said.
General Katunku campaign Director General and former commissioner of Water Resources in Kaduna State, Mr. Tsahiru Bako, explained that it is the aspirant’s purposeful leadership qualities that endeared him to accept to lead the campaign organization.
“I don’t associate myself with failure but whatever thing l do or l am about to do, l always access such thing critically to ensure that l am on the right track to avoid shame in the future.
“I also gave General Katunku a close making to know whether he is a man of his words or not. I stand without any apology that the aspirant is a man that could be trusted anytime, anywhere and as such, l accept to pilot the team to success in 2019,” he said.
