Governor Uba Sani on Monday hosted a high-level delegation from the Gates Foundation in Kaduna, as the state seeks to deepen partnerships in healthcare, agriculture, financial inclusion and human capital development.
The delegation, led by the Foundation’s Nigeria Country Director, Mr. Uche Amaonwu, is in the state for strategic engagements with government officials and development stakeholders.
At the gala dinner, discussions focused on strengthening primary healthcare systems, expanding immunisation and disease prevention programmes, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and improving access to finance for women, youths and rural communities.
Governor Sani said the engagement aligns with his administration’s commitment to investing in sectors that directly impact citizens. Kaduna currently allocates about 26 per cent of its budget to education and 16 per cent to healthcare, among the highest in the country, while also scaling up funding for agriculture and social protection.
Development experts said the Gates Foundation’s renewed engagement could unlock fresh resources for maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, food security and financial inclusion programmes in the state.
The Gates Foundation is one of the world’s largest philanthropic organisations, investing billions of dollars globally in health, agriculture and poverty reduction.
