A presidential aspirant under the Social Democratic Party, SDP and former Nigeria Ambassador to Mexico Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher has stressed that Nigeria unity is sacrosanct and nonnegotiable.
Prof. Hagher who said this during a visit to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Abagena, Makurdi local government where he celebrated his birthday, frowned at those calling for restructuring of the country.
He noted that it is foolhardy for anyone or group of people to be calling or secession at a time all Nigerians must be mutually involved in building a great nation.
The erstwhile Ambassador maintained Nigerians must be seen to be responsible and shun ethnic and religious sentiments.
“We must not allow this country to go back to colonial era. We must learn to accommodate each other not our killers. Nigeria is a great country”, he said.
Hagher sympathized with the refugees over their plight while taking a swipe at policy makers for their failure to address the needs of the poor.
He assured the IDPs that there is hope of their return home and donated items which include, hundreds bags of rice, 20 crates of eggs, soaps, sugar, oranges and exercise books.
