AMAC Chairman charges religious leaders to tackle killings with prayers

Date:

The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has called on religious leaders to seek divine intervention, in order to halt the seemingly endless killings in the land.
Candido, who expressed displeasure over the recurring killings across the country, also admonished religions leaders to pray for peace and unity in the Council and country at large.
He spoke when leaders of the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Abuja branch paid him a courtesy visit, in his office, recently.
Candido, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dayo Lawal, reiterated that the country is going through a tough time, urging religious leaders to do something to stop the menace.
He said the only way to heal the country, which obviously not well in view of these incessant killings was for the religious leaders to lead in prayers and asked God to put a stop to these killings, so that the nation could returned back to the path of peace.
Earlier in her address, the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs Victoria Bola Ihesiulor commended the Chairman for his administration’s support and encouragement given to the women to make their meaningful contribution.
According to her, “we want to commend your administration for giving the women a sense of belonging through your various programmes.
“And one of the reasons why we are here today is to look into areas where we can collaborate with you to make your job easy while achieving your set objectives of developing the grassroots and explaining the programmes of the government to the people.”
