Lawyer to challenge Dogara’s seat in Bauchi

Date:

From Ahmad Mohammed, Bauchi

A legal practitioner in Bauchi, Gashion Daniel Danna, has expressed interest to contest the Federal House of Representative seat for Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Federal Constituency in Bauchi State 2019, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a seat which the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, occupies.
Danna stated this yesterday in Bauchi after he submitted his intent form at the Secretariat of PDP, where he said “I took this bold decision for the massive support I get from my constituency for the past two years. I have visited all wards and nooks and crannies in my constituency to meet with my people, and I am in the race because of the numerous calls from my people asking me to contest for the seat due to my humility, competence and zeal and ability to deliver by representing the constituents very well.”
The aspirant expressed confidence that he will win the seat and sought the support of the party delegates and all electorates to enable him win the party primaries and the election to continue from where his predecessors stopped.
He said “presently, I am doing some ground work like meeting with the Constituents and planning with my team. I am convinced that I will win the elections in 2019. There is no doubt about it, on the issue of my elder brother Dogara, the people of our constituency knows that this seat use to rotate, Dass represented us in the past, then Tafawa Balewa, we gave the chance to Bogoro where Dogara represented us three consecutive times and we feel it is in our own collective interest, the people of Bogoro will also understand that it is now our time, they should support us and I believe they will support me in the interest of brotherhood”.
Danna said his types of politics is not a do or die affair, adding that he will contest in the best interest of his people and that if he wins, he will serve them better by sustaining the legacies of his predecessors and bringing succor to his people.
State PDP Chairman, HamzaAkosheAkuyam, who was represented by state Vice Chairman, Haruna Musa Shitu, pledged to be fair and just to all aspirants and warned them against defecting to other political parties if they did not win the primary election.
