A Mararaba Grade 1 Area court at Aso Pada, near Abuja, has ordered that a 19-year old labourer, Nura Muwada, be remanded in prison.
The Presiding Officer, Mr. Albert Maga, gave the order after the accused, standing trial for alleged conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, theft and mischief, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Friday Adaji, had earlier told the court that one Alhaji Musa of Orange Market in Mararaba had reported the matter to the `A’ Division Police Station at Mararaba.
Adaji said the accused, of the same address with Musa, had on February 18 with two others now at large stabbed the complainant with a knife.
He said the complainant had in the process lost N15, 000, a Tecno phone valued at N3, 000 and a pair of sandals.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 96, 247 and 327 of the Penal code respectively.
If convicted, the accused could spend up to two years in prison or pay a fine, or both.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Maga ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to March 6 for judgment. (NAN)
