… As organisation unveils project to boost youths participation in governance

In order to increase the political awareness and capacity of the youth, to participate in governance process of their immediate society, for sustainable dividends of democracy, a politically conscious youth organization, Patriotic Citizens Initiatives for Community Development and Better Nigeria, has unveiled a community based platform tagged project ‘Believe Mr. President.’

The project is designed to strengthen democracy by encouraging young people in various communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and across the country, to actively and massively stand by the present political leadership, for creating stability and trust in the polity.

Speaking at the official flag off/ launching of the initiative and the inauguration of state coordinators of the project, in Abuja, Chairman of the Organisation, Lucky Igbuwe, said project is an all network of Nigerian youth democrats and advocates for suitable development, unity and peaceful co-existence in the society.

According to him, the awareness and knowledge of the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation agenda, is the tonic required to fast track rapid development and guarantee crisis-free society. Igbuwe added that the organisation aims to collaborate with other grassroots organisations in implementing projects that will contribute to good governance in the country, so as to create greater awareness for youth mainstreaming in developmental policies and strategies. “It is apparent that no single group has more stakes in the fundamental issue of development of various sectors of the economy of the society than young people. Therefore the mobilization of Nigerian people around developmental efforts is critical necessity for the country at this auspicious moment, and it is perhaps the most effective means to bring back our country into developmental fast lane,” he stressed.
