The organised Labour in the FCT Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has called out her members to fully commence the national strike as directed by the central labour, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The workers under umbrella of the Joint Unions Action Committee, (JUAC) in a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Korede Matilukoro and made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja called on staff to comply fully with the strike action.
The statement reads in part: “The Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) is in receipt of a circular from the national headquarters of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), calling for a nationwide strike with effect from the midnight of 26th September, 2018.
“To further press home the demand on the review of the current minimum wage, JUAC hereby call on all union leaders, unions and staff of the FCT Administration, to immediately commence mobilisation towards the strike as directed by the leadership of TUC and NLC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all staff are expected to sit at home, as any staff caught contravening this directive will be sanctioned accordingly.
“To this end, the entire workforce of the FCT Administration is hereby charged to sit at home and wait for further instruction.”
It would be recalled that the TUC and the NLC has instructed all affiliate unions to commence a nationwide strike to press home their demand for a new and improved minimum wage.
