The Methodist bishop, Diocese of Nyanya, Abuja, Rt. Rev. Samuel Nortrey, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give enough time for voters registration, to enable it capture all eligible voters for the 2015 elections.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the church’s 4th annual diocesan synod with the theme: “Let there be Light”, at the Methodist church Nigeria cathedral, Nyanya, the cleric commended INEC for releasing the electoral calendar for next year on time.
He also advised Nigerian electorates not to sell their votes or partake in snatching of ballot boxes and or violence before or after elections.
He added that the government should ensure that INEC is given all that it requires to organise a free and fair elections devoid of violence in 2015.
“Let me advice that they (INEC) should give enough time for voters’ registration, to enable them capture all eligible voters.
“But INEC cannot do it all alone; therefore, every Nigerian should decide that we will have credible elections in 2015 and elect leaders who will truly use what God has blessed us with for our development, and not for their personal enrichment,” the bishop said.
