The National Delegates and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) has adopted Breakforth Onwubuya to contest against the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and other presidential candidates in the 2019 general elections.
The Delegates of the party took the decision yesterday in Abuja at an elective national convention of the party which held at Ignobis Hotel.
JFP took the decision as a way of beating the October 7, 2018 deadline issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for all political parties to submit names of their candidates contesting for any of the available elective positions in the 2019 elections.
Chief Onwubuya’s adoption as Presidential candidate of the party through affirmation by all the delegates, according to the National Deputy Chairman (South) of the party, Godwin Anyanwu, was sequel to the failure of two aspirants who earlier indicated interest to meet up with required demands for such office as stipulated for by the party’s constitution and INEC guidelines.
According to him, “JFP as a party with best manifesto loaded with practical solutions to Nigeria’s problems, must not fail in offering Nigerians the required alternative in the 2019 presidential election with a presidential candidate, the very reason Onwubuya is adopted for the all important race”.
“As a party highly desirous in offering credible alternative to Nigerians, not having a presidential candidate would have been most unpatriotic and the best way of doing it, is to put forward Dr. Onwubuya to Nigerians to vote into office for the implementation of our development – driven manifestos”, he added.
In his acceptance speech, the JFP presidential candidate promised to implement to the fullest, the 10- point manifesto of the party if elected into office.
He said the party by its well-conceived programmes, was put to rescue Nigeria from poor governance and reposition her for greatness.
He said “In line with my party’s manifestos, if elected by Nigerians, the country will be re -structured in line with doctrines and principles of federalism, massive industrialization programmes would be carried out, Nigeria economy will be fully diversified through mechanized farming system, security architecture thoroughly overhauled and wage serious and non-selective war against corruption”.
He added that the problem of epileptic power supply will be a thing of the past within two years of his presidency and run a government where Education and health care services would be free, more qualitative and efficient.
