Nine years old Clinton Reuben Aigbedion diagnosed with a hole in his heart has been abandoned to die.
The inability of his unemployed parents to raise the sum of N5 million (Five million Naira) to enable him undergo a correction surgery and live normal life, have worsened his plight.
Doctors at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), yesterday described Clinton’s condition as life threatening which requires immediate attention.
His parents, Mr and Mrs Aigbedion said they have suffered greatly with ailment for more than five years with a consequent drain on their meagre finances without any improvement.
He is said to have presented with hypertensive urgency second in a child renovascular disease and left ectopic kidney. Clinton was managed for congestive cardiac failure secondary to heart disease and he is currently on medications.
However, the doctors say the only remedy for him is to undergo a heart surgery without further daily; a venture the young boy dreams of but parents dread as funds are lacking.
His mother said: “my son stopped attending school since we noticed his inability to walk well and he is always weak and is not growing normally too. This has brought us great sadness and to Clinton as well”.
The father said: “We were told to bring the sum of N5-million before the surgery can be conducted. So much money has been spent on him and there is no improvement and we are helpless. I don’t work and my wife is a full housewife”.
“I am begging and pleading with Edo state government and all Nigerians to save my son’s life and they can send such help to Ecobank Account Number: 2201043647”, he said.
