Clubs to present N25m to LMC as guarantee

Date:

Nigeria premier league clubs are now to provide a bank guarantee of 25 million Naira (about $147,000) as against an earlier demand of 100 million Naira.

This followed yesterday’s meeting between the League Management Company (LMC) and the 20 clubs in Abuja.

The LMC have also moved swiftly to cushion some financial hardships of the clubs by paying for the registration fees for the new season and insurance cover to ensure the league kicks off on March 7 as announced.

Three clubs led by Giwa FC are to now formally ask for a special waiver to pay their players below the minimum monthly salary of 150,000 Naira.

“It was a very fruitful meeting and some of the lingering issues were thrashed out,” said a top club official.

“And as it is now we can safely say the league will begin on March 7 as announced.”
