2015: Middle Belt sets to endorse Sam Nda-Isaiah for Presidency

The Middle Belt Reawakening Initiative (MBRI) has called on activists and groups in the region to slow down with issues of support for any other candidate, saying that it has found the Chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Mr Sam Nda -Isaiah, a brave, courageous, credible and promising candidate.

The group which rose from its third executive meeting at the weekend regretted that the Middle Belt region which prides itself as the political denominator of the Nigerian nation has not been able to assert its political prowess to the Nigerian centre in a democratic setting.

In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the MBRI, Comrade Vincent Akowe Ogenyi, said that since the Middle Belt is the Christain hub of the entire Northern Nigeria with almost 90 per cent Christian population, Nda Isaiah possesses a formidable population constituency to reach out and engage other regions for a promising political battle for the presidency.

The statement quoted him as saying that the fear of being shortchanged after the 2015 presidential elections has given rise to the precautious position the group has taken.

According to the statement, the national coordinator hinted that information has come from reliable sources that President Goodluck Jonathan has entered into a very serious but secret agreement with those he referred to as the core north to hand over to one of their own after four years following his anticipated election success in 2015.

He affirmed that this information sent a feeling of betrayal to the good people of the Middle Belt region who have always stood by the President in times of need, and who had hoped to reap from the political investments they had all along been making for the president.

The statement added that the group resolved to pay a courtesy and solidarity visit to Nda Isaiah whose interest to run for the presidential elections come 2015 is no longer hidden.
