Super Eagles team coordinator, Patrick Paschal has said Eagles must beat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Johannesburg to retain their superiority in Africa.
The former Super Eagles player noted that the pain of losing to them at home at the very early stage of the Nations cup qualifiers is still very fresh on their mind.
He opined that the defeat was made possible then because the technical crew was still putting the team together, stressing that the South Africans who had already had a standing team took advantage of that situation.
“You must realize that since that time the Super Eagles have gone on to qualify for the world cup, winning almost every other matches they have played, where as the South Africans were not able to qualify for the world cup. We are even ahead of them on the qualifying table.
“Places we have gone and won, they went there and fumble. This is to tell you how far the Super Eagles have progressed since then,” he said.
Patrick Paschal maintained that the result of the match will not so much determine the Super Eagles qualification chances for the Nations cup since they only need one point to ensure their qualification.
“The main truth is that the result of that match will not determine our qualification since we only need one point to secure our place at the Nations cup. Again, after the match, Seychelles will still be coming to meet us at home for the final match which from every indication is a winnable match. But we will put everything in the South Africa match to inflict that same pain of defeat on them in their backyard, the same they did it to us at our home, he stated unequivocally
