Nurses, midwives hold first scientific conference in Jigawa

The National Association of Nurses and Midwives (NANM) Jigawa state chapter has organised a first scientific conference for its members across the twenty seven local government in the state.
The conference with theme “The controversy of task shifting and task sharing policy” held at three star hotel Dutse the state capital.
Speaking at the conference the state chairman of the association comrade Hazakilu Hussein Kore said, the conference is first of its kind since the creation of Jigawa state.
He explained that, the conference aimed at inspiring ideas, uphold ethical values, enhance members skills and knowledge’s that will create and sustain a mind shift towards the new face of the association and nursing profession.
According to him, the association under his leadership recorded a tremendous success particularly on ensuring the welfare of members like provision of hospital staff quarters for nurses and midwives, demand for full implementation of national harmonized scheme of service for nurses and midwives in the state among others.
While presenting his paper at the conference, the training coordinator of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) nurse Haruna Mandabs urged government at various level to increase the number of human resources particularly the nurses and midwives for better health delivery services in Nigeria hospitals.
