Niger govt. awards N10bn roads, power contracts

The Niger State Government has awarded contracts worth over N10 billion for the construction, rehabilitation of some township roads and electrification projects to address some critical infrastructural decay in the state so as to ameliorate the plight of the citizens.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe made the disclosure yesterday at a press briefing after the state Executive Council meeting at Government House, Minna saying that the work will soon commence.
Balarabe stressed that nine memos were presented by his ministry and were all considered and approved by the council, adding that it has approved the contract for the construction of road from Erena bridge and its network roads to Traicter Nigeria limited at N3.6 billion.
He stated the funds were captured in 2018 supplementary budget noted that the up grading and over lay of 5,000 metres road from Emirs palace to GRA in Kontagora at N726,107,568:85k to same Traicter Construction company.
While the contract for the rehabilitation of selected roads in Minna was awarded to Moon Town Nigeria Limited at the sum of N2.402 billion. The roads he said, includes; Idi road in Anguwan Daji, Tunga police station road, Abattoir road and others.
He added that the state government has also approved the contract for the rehabilitation of Zungeru town road considering the historical town which is 7 kilometers surface dressing at the cost of N757,353,279:38k to Product Company limited.
According to him, it has awarded the contract for the construction and rehabilitation of Kagara township road that is 8144 km to Enaco Nigeria Ltd at the rate of N857,889,939:07k, while the rehabilitation of 10km road between Tegina to Kontagora by Traicter Nigeria Ltd to the tune of N1.735,297,698:75k.
The Commissioner further said that Mokwa township roads awarded to Mahada Best Nigeria Ltd at the cost of N716,201,604:00k and electrification of Kontagora- Rijau to Omark White Company which is 132 by 33KV, 7.5 construction of MBA at N487,268,875:00k.
Balarabe also announced that the ministry through direct Labour will embarked on the 33KV electrification line extension from Gidan Mongoro to Ibeto and replacement of its vandalized cables along the route by using the ministry technical staff at N97,782,160:00k.
