Taraba: 2 men arraigned for culpable homicide

Two men Habibu Yusuf and Zubairu Sani have been arraigned before a Jalingo Chief Magistrate Court for culpable homicide punishable with death.

According to the First Information Report, one Danladi Agyo of Jibu village, Wukari Local Government

reported to the police on the 7th of February that an unknown man stabbed one Tikachi Wunuji

of the same village in his house to death.

Investigations by the police according to the FIR later revealed that the two accused criminally conspired and attacked the deceased with a knife which led to his death contrary to section ninety seven and two hundred and twenty-one of the penal Code.

The prosecutor Tyondo Ortwer informed the court that the police had not concluded investigations into the matter and asked for an adjournment.

Senior Magistrate, Esther Tata granted his prayers adding that she was only holding brief for the High Court because of lack of jurisdiction which informed the decision of not taking pleas of the two accused.

The Judge adjourned the case to 13th March and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.

In another development a four hundred level Statistics and mathematics Student of the Taraba State University Friday Samson has committed Suicide.

Investigation by our reporter revealed that the deceased left behind suicide note before he drank poison after a quarrel he had with his sister over registration fees.

The investigation further revealed that the deceased happens to be the Younger brother of a former member of the State House of Assembly Nelson Kasong Santi representing Yorro Constituency.

When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer PPRO Joseph Kwaji confirmed the incident.
